THE DEMON BEAT + SECRET MOUNTAINS + ELEPHANT CHILD

at Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar

Time: 9:00pm     Day: Friday     Doors: 8:30pm     Ages: All Ages     Price: $7

The Demon Beat aren’t here to shock or alienate anyone. They’re here to make you believe in what they believe, a kind of spirit so many of the cookie cutter indie rock bands of today can’t seem to grasp. It should hit you right in the pit of your stomach, should take risks, should be more about the music than following some kind of aesthetic. More about creating than pretending.

"Secret Mountains closed out its Thursday night show at Cake Shop with a furious squall. Beginning with the dry, desert ache of “High Horse” and swelling into “Golden Blue,” the band built the rush one piece at a time — lonely, aerated guitar; firm bass; jangling tambourine; keyboards adding thickness; and a second guitar, more frenzied than the first, slashing through everything else, abrasive and urgent." - NY Times

In the High and Far-Off Times the Elephant, O Best Beloved, had no guitar. But there was one Elephant--a new Elephant--an Elephant's Child--who was full of 'satiable curtiosity. This Elephant heard tales of the Crocodile whom which knew how to rock. The Elephant traveled the desert far and wide, full of perils such as cannibals, wild women, and wine. But when he got to the banks of the great grey-green, greasy Limpopo River there was no Crocodile only a guitar. The Elephant continued to travel around, sharing his distorted sound, as if Nirvana had made a lovechild with the Velvet Underground.
